Takuya Nakata, New President of Yamaha

Yamaha Corporation announced on April 30 that Takuya Nakata, Senior Executive Officer, was named new president of the company to be effective on June 26. Former president of Yamaha Corporation of America and Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems, Nakata, 54, joined Yamaha after graduation from Keio University in 1981. Nakata succeeds the position from Mitsuru Umemura, who serves as Special Corporate Advisor.

Yamaha expects that the appointment would integrate strategic planning for the future and expedite just implemented new Yamaha Management Plan 2016 under his leadership.

According to the annual sales report announced on April 30, Yamaha's consolidated total sales for the latest term ended March was 366,941 million yen, a 2.9% increase from the previous term, and net profit was 4,122 million yen.
